WellDyne - Redesigning Member Portal

About the project

We led a creative discovery workshop for WellDyne Rx, an industry-leading specialty pharmacy provider of advanced prescription services. They aimed to revamp their patient dashboard and enhance the user experience. The discovery workshops involved stakeholders at WellDyne, during which we created journey maps, defined the portal's information architecture, and delivered high-fidelity MVP prototypes of the new dashboard for their patients.

My Role

As the lead UX designer, my primary responsibility was to collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs. We began by revising the portal's information architecture, updated journey maps based on the new architecture, and then created low-fidelity wireframes, finishing with high-fidelity mockups. Although specific details are under NDA, I'm happy to discuss my experience further via email.

Process

The design process for this project began with stakeholder information-gathering workshops, followed by drafting personas and defining key performance indicators (KPIs). We then worked on improving the information architecture of the existing portal, developed user journey maps, and created low-fidelity prototypes. The process concluded with the development of high-fidelity mockups. Due to an NDA, I cannot disclose comprehensive details, but the brief outline of the process is as follows:

Accomplishments

  1. Conducted stakeholder meetings to align on redesign goals.

  2. Audited the current portal and redesigned its information architecture.

  3. Mapped user journeys with the improved structure.

  4. Built a new design system for the portal's UI.

  5. Delivered a high-fidelity click-through prototype for both web and mobile within six weeks.

Learnings & Takeaways

  1. Understanding Medical Terms and Designing for Them

Our team initially spent time clarifying questions about drugs, pharmacies, and the different access needs of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial users. This was crucial to ensure we didn't miss any user flows or requirements.

  2. Competitive Analysis

We conducted extensive comparative and competitive analysis to understand how best-in-class products in the market designed their portals. This helped us prioritize features for WellDyne.

  3. Working with Existing Design Guidelines

WellDyne had its own design style for their website and marketing materials. We navigated this by integrating new design elements to maintain consistency with their current design.

  4. Receiving Feedback and Iterating

We regularly engaged with the team and stakeholders to gain clarity on medical terms, user requirements, and business rules. We gathered feedback and iterated on the designs until they were approved by the stakeholders.
